Volunteering is our Lifestyle. We were stunned when we realized that our combined business experience and volunteer service is 35++ years (yikes!). Our committee jobs have ranged from stuffing envelopes, trolling for donations, dressing in public restrooms moments before the fundraising gala begins, promising our neglected families never to do this again, persuading volunteers to serve, staying up nights before the event to finish the details, and chairing committees for auctions large and small.

We believe there has to be a better way.

Recent years found us tirelessly searching the internet looking for shreds of information to make the event successful, organized, meet our fundraising goals, and prevent burnout. At our post-event meetings, after the success of the day, we felt – wouldn’t it be great to have a resource that volunteers could mine for information? A source where they could download a checklist or “how-to” and arrive at their committee meeting armed with real, practical information for planning their fundraiser.

MEET TISH and KERRY

Tish Nighswonger and Kerry Zarders are professionals who love to volunteer at their local non- profits and kids’ schools.

Tish and Kerry worked their buns off on many volunteer projects together. They discovered a shared obsession for the details of organizing large focal events and mastering the art of computerized auction management. They are passionate about fundraising – and teaching others to do it the right way.

Tish loves developing the process – figuring out  the steps, strategies and structures for a successful fundraising event. She spent years introducing software automation to doctors’ practices in order to help them run more efficiently and increase profits. For a large upscale retailer, she managed merchandising and designing sales floors to guarantee a positive guest experience, increase revenue and maximize sales.

Today, Tish sees fundraising groups as small businesses with the same needs. 

For Kerry, it’s all about the plan.  Her background as a self-employed mosaic public artist, and as an arts administrator reflects her ability to juggle multiple time lines and keep her business on course to  secure efficiency with each project she manages.  She thinks the process of community fundraising is much like mosaic making - multiple  shapes, colors  and textures come together to make one beautiful image – or a successful fundraising event.

Kerry sees fundraising projects as entrepreneurial endeavors with limitless creative possibilities.

Tish lives in the OC with her family, three kids (ages 19, 15 & 11), a little shelter pooch named Ruby and then there’s …..Lou (our giant pasture pup with a heart of gold!)
Kerry lives in LA Co. with her husband, daughter, a mutt named Mika, and two guinea pigs, Haku and Peter Pigtrelli.
